My Apongeton crispus were flowering, my Echinodorus bleheri were flowering -- I was on top of the world. Then it happened. A dark green algae started to cover some of the plants.

This species was originally described (Rataj, 1970) as Echinodorus bleheri and the name was corrected by Dr. Rataj to E. bleherae although the original incorrect gender is still encountered.

Amazon Swordplant - Echinodorus bleheri - another large but very hardy plant, the Amazon Sword makes a great centerpiece for larger aquariums, but can be kept in smaller tanks with moderate lighting for quite some time.

Amazon Swords (Echinodorus bleheri) also do well but I have find that they quickly get too large in a CO2 injected 10 gallon tank. Stay away from floating plants at first as they will tend to block out too much of the light needed by other plants.
