Origin: USA, From North-Carolina to Florida.
Etymology: After the origin of the fish, the Everglades.
The Everglades pygmy sunfish (Elassoma evergladei) is an interesting species for a small single species tank. It is the best known species in the aquarium hobby of a genus containing six species, all which live in the Southeastern United States.
