Epalzeorhynchus bicolor
SYN: Labeo bicolor
PD: Elongated fish with slight lateral compression. The mouth faces downward and two pairs of barbels are present.

Breeding Reports of hobbyist breeding Epalzeorhynchus Bicolor are very rare. What I have found is that a large well planted tank with a ratio of more females to males is needed. The females are more robust and rounded than the males.

The Epalzeorhynchos bicolor (formerly Labeo bicolor and often misspelled as Epalzeorhynchus bicolor) is a popular fish added to community and Asian biotope aquariums. It has a pitch black body color and only the tail is red.

Red Tailed Black Shark (Epalzeorhynchus bicolor): A popular fish, with a striking red/black contrast, very attractive. It tends to be a loner, as its territorial and could be aggresive especially with its own specie.

They should not be kept with Red-tailed Sharks (Epalzeorhynchus bicolor) unless the aquarium is large and well planted, because that species is very aggressive towards all its relatives.
