Firefishes
These small, elongated fish are great additions for the passive community tank. They are extremely hardy, colorful, eat most foods, and are disease resistant. The biggest problem is their habit of jumping out of the aquarium.

How about a > mandarin fish, firefish, or some gobies? In your experience, are they hard > to keep and what do they eat? Don't get a mandarin unless you have about 500lbs of high quality live rock per fish. Otherwise it will eventually starve.

Certain species such as freshwater barbs and tetras, or saltwater anthias and firefish can release a fright pheromone that causes the shoal to tighten in an attempt to confuse the predator.

The Volitan Lionfish is also known as the Common Lionfish, Red Firefish, Turkeyfish, and Butterfly Cod. It has red to burgundy, white, and black vertical stripes along the body.

Other fish in the community can include Clownfish, Damselfish, Gobies, Catfish, Firefish, Rabbitfish and Butterflyfish. Any fish large enough to eat them should definitely be avoided. These include Lionfish, Trigger's, Grouper's and Snapper's.

If housed together, one will dominate and chase and attack the others until its alone. Must be fed properly or its colors will fade. Keep in a closed tank, Firefish are prone to leaping out of open tanks.
