Further into the same exhibit is dedicated to some of the odder species of the rainforest, such as the four-eyed fish, the Anableps (Anableps anableps) of Mexico.

The Anablepidae or Four-eyed fish family is made up of three species that inhabit brackish water river estuaries Central and South America.

The latter group occur in the Superfamily Peocilioidea; there are two Families, the Anablepidae (Four-eyed Fish and relatives) and the Poeciliidae (commonly, the Poeciliids).

Other types of livebearer such as the four-eyed fish (Anableps anableps) are kept because of their slightly odd appearance which can be appealing to more experienced aquarist who are looking for something a bit different.

Other livebearing species kept by aquarists, though far less commonly than the Poeciliidae are the splitfins, family Goodeidae; the halfbeaks, family Hemirhamphidae; and the four-eyed fish Anableps anableps, family Anablepidae.

The latter suborder comprises cyprinodontidae (egg-laying killifish), goodeidae (mexican livebearers), jenynsiidae (jenynsiids), anablepidae (four-eyed fish), poeciliidae (livebearers).
