The Giraffe catfish has a color pattern resembling a Giraffe, which explains its common name. This fish is a sociable and unassuming detritus feeder, whose only vise is to rearrange the fine substrate when feeding.

Giraffe catfish
The Mbuna display, with its above and below water escarpment, is a sight to behold. There are so many species and colour forms of species here that we would need a large space to list them all. I just enjoyed their myriad of colours.
Giraffe catfish themselves have several subspecies, which are all visually identical apart from size. These are :

My cousin had a near full-size giant gourami in his equally huge 800 L tank with an oscar, two common plecs, a giraffe catfish, a Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps and a small shoal of tinfoil barbs.
