An egg layer, Glossolepis incisus spawns throughout a number of days over moss. The adults should be removed after spawning and the eggs should be raised and hatched separately. The fry should be fed very small, live foods.

PD : An elongated, laterally compressed fish that develops an arched back with age. There are two dorsal fins, the second is longer than the first. The anal fin runs from the mid-belly to the caudal penuncle.

It stands to reason that if Werner, who first discribed Glossolepis incisus in 1908 as the Salmon-Red rainbowfish, had wanted it named "Red rainbowfish" he would have stated as thus.

The Boeseman's rainbows (Melanotaenia boesemani) and the red rainbows (Glossolepis incisus) are both very good choices because they are very colourful and not too expensive. Get at least six fish for the second school too.
