The Green Discus is a popular cichlid from the Amazon basin. Their bodies are round and disc like, hense the name. They have many irridescent stripes and markings, especially on the top and bottom regeons of the body and fins.

The Green Discus (Symphysodon aequifaciatus aequifaciatus) has turquoise and blue markings on its head and upper body. The anal and dorsal fin is also turquoise. The Green Discus will reach the same size as the Blue Discus.

PD: The disc-shaped body has nine dark vertical bands which fade with age. The head and upper parts of the body are veined with turquoise to blue markings.

James imported a special pair of adult red-spotted green discus. The male had sold the previous week for $700, and James was asking $800 for this beautiful female.
aequifasciatus (the Green Discus) and S. haraldi (the Blue Discus). In both Ready and Bleher the "brown" or "common" discus is the same as the Blue Discus. And both studies used mitochondrial DNA sequence data.

The first two members were called "wild blue discus" at the fish store, but to us they appear to be Symphysodon aequifasciatus aequifasciatus or green discus.
