Distribution Tropical Eastern Asia, from then coastal regions of Indochina and the Philippines to India. Found in fresh and brackish waters.
Green Puffers are not a good fish for beginners. They need a good amount of room, I suggest a 200+ liter tank. Though these fish are aggressive, they can have tankmates. Usually larger, and I stress "LARGER", non-aggressive fish make great tank mates.

They are in a 55 gallon with one pangasius cat, a pearl flowerhorn, a pleco, a banjo cat, and a spotted green puffer. Everyone gets along very well. The corys love to school together and you can tell the albinos are a pair - they are always together.
Whilst travelling in Thailand a few years ago, I noticed that the native Green Puffers, Tetradon nigroviridis were common on street pet stalls along with various barbs and terrapins.
