Green Severum
The Green Severum, also known as the Banded Cichlid, is a color variation of Heros severus Severum. Severum have an iridescent sheen to their scales and off-white to green background color.

Green Severums are very peaceful for cichlids and are recommended for beginners. Young Green Severums have black vertical stripes along their body which they lose with age. Only the rear stripe is retained.
I kept a large green Severum (female) for many years. Unfortunately it recently passed to the big tank in the sky. I really liked this fish but unlike most books and the opinions of other aquarists this one was an extremely aggressive fish.

I have kept two pairs of Green Severums for a little over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. As ditsy as they can be sometimes, they have great personalities and my four are usually very friendly.
They are a color mutation of the Green Severum and are similar in appearance, except for their striking gold color. The Gold Severum is a round, fairly flat fish. Some people compare them to the Discus in shape.
My personal favourites are green severums and oscars, but oscars get quite big...two per 55 gallon tank. If you want smaller dempsey or severum sized (rather than oscar sized) fish you can have 6 fish in your tank (a good number).
Other Info= There are two varation of this fish, there is the Gold Severum and the Green Severum.
Breeding Info= TANK: A tank with 51G (200L) per pair, flat stones on the bottom.
They grew fast in the big tank which includes large gold severum,green severum (breeding groups), silver dollars, jurapari and annostomus. They add a beauty and distinction when "cruisng" along and their fins have grown to be luxurious.
