Common Name: Green Terror ...

Green Terrors are beautiful fish. They are to me, the second most owner responsive fish, other than the Oscar. Green Terrors are afraid of nothing, know how to hide from danger and are not overly aggressive. Mine eats from my hand just like my Oscar.

Green Terrors will eat all manner of foods, especially earthworms, beefheart, food pellets, bloodworms, and goldfish. Do not feed the same food continuously, as this can lead to an 'addiction' to one food and digestive disorders.
...

Green terrors natively live in a tropical climate and prefer water with a 6.5-8.0 pH, a water hardness of 25.0 dGH, and a temperature range of 20-24 °C (79-86 °F).

common name: Green Terror
Family: Cichlidae
Continent of origin: South America
Origin country: Ecuador, Peru,
Size: under 20 cm (7.87 inch)
Minimal tank volume: 200 litre (53 US gal)

Two colour varieties of the Green Terror are recognised: one with white edges on the tail and dorsal fins, and one with yellow/orange edges.

Green Terrors are a very nice colourful fish from South America and are quite often confused with the blue acara. Unlike the blue acara the green terror is a more aggressive fish that need be handled with care as far as other tank mates are concerned.

Green Terrors are found in South America, most common in Peru and Ecuador. There are at least two subspecies, the gold saum, and the white saum. In a natural environment, the Green Terror is usually found in caves and open areas.

Green terrors and Red devils almost always have to be separated. You can plant a cichlid tank if you bury an eggcrate just below the surface and use robustly rooted plants. Valisneria and onion plants work well.

The Family Cichildae is one of the largest families of freshwater fish, and encompass popular aquarium fish such as Oscars, Discus, and Angelfish, to other breeds such as Red Devils, Green Terrors, Dwarf Cichlids, and Jack Dempseys.

Many other large fish were on display, especially large South American cichlids such as jaguar cichlids, tilapia, Jack Dempseys, green terrors, red devils, a variety of oscars, and the newly popular hybrid flowerhorn cichlid.

I have 2 malawi eye bites. They are housed with convicts, green terrors and red devils.

Very aggressiv and bullying fish, hence the English name "Green terror", that disturb the soil. Not very particular to watervalues, can be kept in soft acidic water as well as in hard water at a higher pH.

One note, this fish is sometimes given the scientific name Aequidens pulcher in the hobby. This is entirely false. That scientific name belongs to the Blue Acara Cichlid. The Green Terror is a species all it's own and it's correct scientific name is ...

Compatible with less aggressive Mbunas and similar sized Peacock and Haplochromis African Cichlids. They are known to kill Plecos and New World Cichlids, such as Jack Dempseys and Green Terrors.

Be sure, however, that the other cichlids you have them in with are not real terrors, because the Jack Dempsey is not as aggressive as a red devil, green terror or the like. This fish is rough on plants, so consider keeping it with plastic plants.

I have my pair in with two big catfish and a green terror that keeps its distance. I have loads of filtration on my tank which is a must and are fed once every 3days or so. I strongly advise you to think before buying these fish.
