Green Texas Cichlid

Aquarium Green TerrorGreen Tiger Barb

Green Texas Cichlid
The Green Texas Cichlid, also known as the Pearlscale Cichlid, is considered to be an amiable fish. A pearly-green in color, the Green Texas Cichlid male can grow to an impressive 12 inches long.

Green Texas Cichlids require a tank of at least 50 gallons with lots of room to swim and adequate hiding spots. Most plants that are added to the aquarium will be uprooted as they dig, so floating plants may be more appropriate.

I have a parrot, and it mates with my Green Texas Cichlid very often...

Three distinct subspecies were recognized by Alvarez in 1970. These include the nominate form Texas Cichlid Herichthys c. cyanoguttatus, the Green Texas Cichlid Herichthys c. carpintis, and tHerichthys c. temporatum.

Best kept in more harder alkaline water which also promotes growth rate.

I had to move my Firemouth, killed my Green Texas cichlid. Moved him into a 125 gal that has African cichlids. Still alive and well.
