I got a small bunch of black skirts to add to my semi-community tank. From what I've read they were supposed to be a peaceful schooling fish with their own kind.

The black tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi) is a freshwater fish of the characin family (family Characidae) of order Characiformes.

Black Tetra: Gymnocorymbus ternetzi
The Black Tetra is found in Paraguay and Gaupore rivers. The full length of the female is five cm, and the male is smaller in size. The female is a lot fuller bodied than the male.

Black Tetras - Gymnocorymbus ternetzi - Their coin-shaped bodies, vertical stripes and tall fins resemble those of angelfish, but Black Tetras are very much hardier. As with most other schooling fish, these mix best when kept in small groups.

The lutino and albino morphs of the "Black Skirt Tetra" (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi) are injected with dyes and fed dye laced foods as fry to produce Blue skirt tetras, red skirt tetras, purple skirt tetras, blueberry tetras, grape tetras, ...
