Bleeding Hearts are fish that remain very active and very lively in the home aquarium. They grow larger than similarly shaped tetras, so larger aquariums are preferable with Bleeding Hearts.

Bleeding Heart Tetras do well in temperatures between 74 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit (24 and 28 degrees Celsius). The pH should be maintained between 5.7 and 7.2.

Bleeding heart tetras are a peaceful and active schooling fish that will school with other species of tetra and continuously occupy every area of the tank. An excellent and hardy addition to any freshwater aquarium.

Right in the heart of Downtown Toronto, in Chinatown, you can find this wonderful pet shop. I've never seen such a great selection of freshwater fish. The owners of this shop specialize in aquariums, and it shows.

For example, a low concentration of oxygen in the water, although sufficient to keep the fish alive, will cause the fish to breathe more rapidly, changing the heart rate and blood chemistry.

Foods such as tubifex, feeder fish and beef heart are not recommended as they are not of much nutritional value to the Axolotl. Soft salmon pellets have been shown to be highly nutritional to axolotls.

The last type is the most rare, the red-heart silver dollar. It looks like a normal silver dollar except there is a red marking on the side of the body like how the bleeding heart tetra has a red mark on its body.
