An adult Lepidarchus adonis grows no larger than 3 / 5 " (1.5 cm) while the African Tiger fish ( Hydrocynus goliath ) attains a length of 5'(150 cm).

The giant of the family Hydrocynus goliath is a voracious predator with impressive dentition. Except for the genus Hydrocynus, most Alestiid species are peaceful, schooling fish that can be kept in a community tank with fish having similar behaviors.
The largest size is 1.4 metres (4.5 ft) reached in Hydrocynus goliath, while the smallest size is about 13 millimetres (.5 in). Many members are under 3 centimetres (about 1 in).[1]
