Other Info= This fish was confused with Hyphessobrycon socolofi, reports of its succesful breeding are few.
Breeding Info= TANK: A tank with 12-25G (50-100L) capacity with a spawning grid, clumps of plants and dim light.

Summary: Three similar but different species are sold as "bleeding heart tetras." Paul describes them, and how he bred the "lesser bleeding heart," Hyphessobrycon socolofi.

Tankmates are peaceful and all young (Geophagus surinamensis, Hyphessobrycon socolofi, Ancistrus dolichopterus, Trichogaster leeri). Tank has soft water (Gh and Kh around 2-3), no ammonia, no nitrite, nitrite-less then 10); temp 27C).
