_Jordanella floridae_ males grow to approx. 2 1/2 inches (6 cm) while the female is slightly smaller but more robust body. CONDITIONING Being omnivorous the pair were fed a variety of live and home-made foods and heavy doses of spirulina.

Native to North America: from St. Johns and Ochlocknee River drainages south to peninsular Florida, USA.

Jordanella floridae is not very difficult to spawn. Mine lay eggs in both plants and on artificial spawning mops, but a few others claim they will fan out pits and guard eggs like cichlids.

Jordanella floridae- The Florida flag fish, a native killie, is an attractive and hardy fish that will do well. These fish do well in a small environment that has some surface area for them to move around.

PD : A stocky bodied species with a "lumpy" body profile. The back is brown to olive and the flanksare gray brown with a light green iridescence. The fl­anks are marked with numerous rows of red spots.

The Florida flagfish, Jordanella floridae, has occasionally been available in retail stores and I found it to be a colorful and hardy community fish. The Poeciliidae, familiar ovoviviparous "livebearers" are the subject of Chapter 15.
