The Kenyi Cichlid originates originates from Lake Malawi in Africa. It is an "mbuna" or rockfish. It is also called a Lombardoi and a Blue kenyi. Juveniles are blue. Adult females also retain this coloration, while males turn a yellow.
The Kenyi, or Lombaroi, is a Rift Valley Cichlid from the rocky shores of Lake Malawi. It is very aggressive. At a small size of 2 inches they can be fed feeder guppies which they tear apart slowly. When full grown they are 5 inches.

The Kenyi Cichlid, Pseudotropheus lombardoi, is an aggressive medium sized cichlid that originates from the rocky shores of Lake Malawi in Africa. The female is blue with black bars and the male turns to a yellow color as it matures.

Kenyi Cichlids usually grow to between four and five inches long. The basic coloring of females is blue or purple, while males are often yellow. Under stress, females may fade to a similar color as males.

my female is beating the male all over the tank. I am affraid she may kill him. is this normal. i got them both at same time and out of same tank at store. what should i do. they are both about 3 inches.

Q- are the Lambardoi and Kenyi the same?
A- Maylandia lombardoi = Pseudotropheus lombardoi = Pseudotropheus kennyi. This is the reason one should use the scientific (Latin/Greek) names.
