Most knifefish species come from Southeast Asia, specifically Thailand, Borneo, Malaysia, India, and Sumatra. These fish usually are found in lakes, swamps, and river backwaters. They prefer still waters and can survive with low oxygen.

I have successfully raised a oscar and knifefish together with a tire tread eel and large pleco. They are a happy peaceful family. The trick is to get them young and near in size with the oscar a bit smaller.

hes about 4 inches, has great color, and is making a great tankmate for my clown knifefish. hes also in the tank with a tiger oscar. believe it or not everyone is getting along. i havent tried frozen foods, but he seems to like guppies.
