Domestic juvenile male aggies usually don't start developing their lanceolate tail fin until they are 1 1/2 to 2 inches long.

Often sold in emmersed form (left image), it's about 15-20 cm tall with lanceolate leaves. When placed in the tank, it goes through a transformation to achieve the grass-like immersed form.

Leaves are lanceolate to oval and toothed. The plant flowers during the summer, with vibrant red blooms cited by Roger Tory Peterson as "America's favorite". A white form is also known.

It has tiny lanceolate light to medium green leaves 2-4 mm long in two rows on either side of a slender stem. In the emersed form, leaves are wider and glossy dark green to olive yellow-green. It can be initially secured to a rock, root, bark, etc.

The lanceolate crinkled leaves of this species may be chocolate brown, olive green, or reddish-brown on the upper-side and a rosy copper on the underside.

it is distinctly stouter (dorsal depth 25.9-36.9 vs. 24.8-32.1% SL), possess more iridescent scales on the body in life, the caudal fin is narrowly lanceolate and the dorsal, caudal, anal and pelvic fins are proportionately longer. [106] ...

The plant typically grows to a height of 6 to 10 inches, even taller (20 in.) under high light conditions. The width of each stem is about 4 to 8 inches, based on leaf growth. The leaf is narrow lanceolate to linear.

The best distinguising characteristic of the fish in this sub-complexis that the males have basically lyrate instead of lanceolate caudal fins. A species about which there is some doubt is A. gephyra.
