Compatibility:
Acceptable tank mates to try are rosy Tetra, black banded Leporinus, severum, butterfly fish and rasbora. Pacus will eat small fish that they can catch, but Zebra Danios swim fast and can often avoid being eaten.

Right beside Sean's armchair is a large tank with his collection of large fish. These include oscars, leporinus, clown loaches, hoplo cats, convicts, and silver sharks.

Surubíes are large migratory fish, with robust bodies, and their meat is very appreciated. They are predatory carnivores, consuming other fish such as sábalos, Prochilodus lineatus, and bogas, Leporinus obtusidens, as well as crustaceans.

Additional:The tail can produce a reddish fluid, which will color skin, and which is probably a defense mechanism. The fish, 3 or 4, are kept in Artis aquarium in Amsterdam, together with some arowanas, pacus, crenicichla xingu and Leporinus sp.

Clown loaches are also peaceful and will not harm other fish in the aquarium. Puffers, leporinus and some of the fish in the Botia family are also great at eating small snails but may only be kept with more aggressive tankmates.
