I actually work at a LFS. Our livestock, for the most part is healthy. But the store is new (about 6 weeks old) and algae/diatoms/etc come and go here and there due to having an immature system. But I know the livestock is healthy.

LFS - A term use to refer to a person's Local Fish Store.
Live Rock - Rock that has been removed from the ocean which will have a range of critters attached to them which helps the filter of aquarium water through Nitrification.
LFS Cultures supply live foods, including Daphnia magna as well as other Daphnia species.

My LFS sales different size thin walled clear tubing along with the rigid airline tubing although the rigid airline has a thick wall. BTW what you had was probably a battery powered sludge extractor.

If the LFS water is quite different from yours (higher/lower pH or hardness), you can either use the cut-open bag in a container or floating, or more easily, use a catch bucket (as the LFS uses).
My own LFS (Local Fish Store) is the Pet Boutique, in North Vancouver.

Note: In many LFS, the holding tank water is usually of a lower salinity,
sometimes even down to 1.018; When you add invertebrates to your tank, you will have to condition them slowly to your tank water first.

Check with your LFS if you are using real wood, as this can alter your water chemistry. Plants work well too. I highly suggest getting
live plants, which add both beauty and stability to your tank.
Having done everything you can to make sure the aquarium was clean from the outset, the diseases sure werent caused by anything you did, and as you have now discovered , most diseases get into aquaria from the LFS. In fact your laughing.

A-I believe that variety is more important than whether you feed pellets or flakes. I feed both and many different kinds.
The other two specimens from the shipment were housed in the Peruvian display tank at the LFS. On one visit to the shop I noticed an egg-raft being brooded by a male.
Most LFS (local fish shops) will not sell or give you media from their tanks (a combination of unfamiliarity and a missed sales chance, plus potential liability issues). So what do you do?

To avoid algae entering the tank via fish, quarantine new fish for at least two days.
I first got into keeping rays through seeing tea cups for sale in my LFS, I think they were £55 each at the time which is very cheap. I decided to do my research and believe me I did a years worth of research lol.
They are quite common in pet stores and LFS's. They grow relatively quickly and can be quite aggressive. Consider keeping it separate from the others or keeping it in a species only tank.
I have seen a CO2 test by tetra in a LFS, I have also read its possible to measure CO2 with PH and hardness. What is the best and more accurate way of testing CO2?
If you count on the LFS (Local Fish Store) or your buddy down the road to keep you out of trouble and don't do your homework.. You will fail. That is the one guarantee in this hobby. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

Fry will need to be fed no more than 3 times a day, when feeding infusoria, a small amount in the morning can last all day!
When the fish reach 2.5-3cm, you may add them to your community tank or sell them to your LFS (although phone them up first) ...
