Macropodus opercularis, Linnaeus, 1758
Origin:China, Korea, Taiwan, Hai-nan, Malakka and on Ryukyu, in slow flowing or standing, usually shallow water with dark soil. In Southern Spain and in Florida(USA) introduced populations exist.

Macropodus opercularis concolor doesn`t have the transversal lines, the only difference is that Macropodus opercularis concolor becomes almost black in the reproduction period and its fins are very prolonged.

I have a paradise fish(female) and I recently purchased a smaller size albino, the female seems curious, but is also not aggressive.

Paradise fish (Macropodus opercularis)
This was reputedly one of the first fish introduced to the hobby.

The same holds true for the blue paradise fish, Macropodus opercularis, and their anabantoid cousin Betta splendens. Care should be taken if putting pairs together in a small environment.

A better choice for keeping alone in a bowl or small tank is the Paradise Fish - Macropodus opercularis. These are much hardier fish than the Fighters and can withstand temperatures down to 60F.
