Malabar Danios are egg-layers that spawn in shallow water after heavy rains among the plants growing at the bottom of the water. An adult will spawn around 200 light orange, sticky eggs that will hatch in 1 to 2 days.

PD: An elongated fish with one pair of barbels. The body is laterally compressed and the mouth is up-turned. The back is gray-yellow to gray-green while the flanks are bluish-green.
Danio Aequipinnatus is the Giant Danio, which derived from the western coast of India around Malabar. The fish is also found in Ceylon. This fish grows 4 inches in size.
