Moonlight Gouramis are timid, peaceful fish. Provide a tank with well-stocked with vegetation and hiding places. Water values are not too critical, but the water should be kept in good quality.

Moonlight gouramis have developed a love hate relationship with aquarium plants. So even though plants are to their liking and make them comfortable, they will tend to chew on them.

Moonlight Gouramis should be allowed spacious aquariums. Water temperatures should remain between 77 and 84 degrees Fahrenheit (25 to 29 degrees Celsius). A pH between 6.0 and 7.2 and water hardness of around 8.0 dGH is desirable.

The Moonlight Gourami is very popular and easy to find. Often it is confused with the Blue Gourami, they are not the same. Moonlight Gouramis do look very similar to Blues, however.

Of the Gourami species listed here, the Pearl and Moonlight Gouramis are the most sensitive, but we have used both successfully to start a new aquarium. The True Giant Gourami is a fish that is rarely offered for sale.

The same goes for the Moonlight gourami. Some people say that it is basically a silver fish with not much going for it.
