Moray eels often find their way into a mixed predator tank, as well they should - you just can't kill a moray eel! They are retiring, non-territorial, hardy and generally easy to feed.
All true Moray Eels make great starter fish. We do mean ONLY true Moray Eels. The Ribbon Eels are not hardy, and in fact, should not be sold for home aquaria at all, as they very rarely live in captivity.

Large Moray Eels (Gymnothorax spp.)
Often sold by the LFS as adorable juveniles, some species easily attain 6 feet or more and most are expert fish killers, sporting flexible jaws capable of swallowing fish far larger than the width of their heads.

Highly predatory fish , such as the Lionfish and Moray Eels should be kept in a separate tank from smaller fish. They are natural hunters and will cause devastation if you place them in the same tank as smaller fish.
I have kept scats for about a year in a brackish tank (1.008, pH 8.5) with 2 small "freshwater" moray eels and 3 puffers.
You could also do a mixed predator tank of lionfish, moray eels, groupers.
Of course, you could keep it simple and have a Amphiprion tank of only clownfish, and even try to get them to breed! ...
