Nasal

Aquarium NapeNauplii

To those interested in the fine, but admittedly boring details of taxonomy, the genus Crossocheilus differs from Epalzeorhynchus by rhynal lobes (nasal lobes).
Description ...

While there are some other fish (for instance many of the cyprinids) that have them, all catfish have barbels on the head: normally up to four pairs - one nasal, one maxillary, and two on the chin or lower jaw (mandible).

Pom-poms are a type of goldfish that have fleshy nasal lobes (enlargements of the nasal septa) that are greatly enlarged into pom-pom like tufts.

This catfish has 4 pairs of barbels; one pair nasal, one pair maxillary and two pairs mandibular. The jaws are described as having teeth arranged in bands. The teeth are described as being 'palatine'.

The pathway of the fish olfactory organ bears little resemblance to that of humans, for they do not have a nasal cavity imbedded in the middle of their skulls like we do.

Short rounded body, no dorsal fin, large, frilly nasal septa.

-Our nostril construction allows us to dive without water entering immediately inside our nose. Only another one primate has a feature of this kind, the Nasalis larvatus sp., which (to the delight of AAT-ists) spends quite a lot of time in the sea… ...

Turtles that tilt to one side, while floating at water surface, can indicate fluid in the lung on the down side, and indicate a respiratory disease. Such turtles may, or may not, also have a nasal discharge.

Nickel (Ni): MCL has not been established, but for freshwater the concentration should be less than 0.1 mg/L. Element detected using flame atomic absorption, no specific standard for nickel. Nickel may cause dermatitis and nasal irritation.
