Nimbochromis venustus, commonly abbreviated to venustus, is a cichlid native to Lake Malawi in Africa. It prefers the deeper regions of Lake Malawi where it hunts smaller juvenile cichlids with a specialised hunting technique.

Nimbochromis venustus or Giraffe Haplochromis is a gorgeous and relatively peaceful but large malawian cichlid. They use the common hunting practice of most Nimbochromis' which is "sleeping". They will lie on their sides and pretend to be a carcass.
