Omnivores are both plant and meat eaters. Almost all aquarium fish are omnivorous; even herbivorous fish are not strict vegetarians. Good examples of omnivorous fish would be mollies, catfish, crayfish, and goldfish.

Omnivore: An animal that eats both living plant and animal matter.
Omnivory: Being able to feed in more than one distinct way (i.e., an organism capable of carnivory and herbivory).
Oodinium: See Velvet Disease.

Omnivores: Omnivorous fish can be stated as being something of a happy medium between carnivorous and herbivorous fish, both possessing a stomach and intestinal tract of reasonable size. Though specialising in neither food type.

Omnivore: Animals who eat both meat and vegetables, like Ocellaris Clownfish.
Osmolator: A device used to continuously replace evaporated water and maintain a constant specific gravity.

Omnivore - One that eats meaty foods and vegetable foods.
Ovipositor - The reproductive organ through which a female fish deposits her eggs.

Feeding Omnivores
Omnivores are the easiest to feed because they are scavengers that eat practically anything edible. This also means that both the plants and smaller fish in your tank can easily form part of the omnivores' diet.

Omnivore, feed a varied diet of dried foods and frozen/live foods. In the wild, this species feeds on parasites of the catfish Bagrus meridionalis, and will also eat the eggs of spawning catfish.

Omnivore. In nature, feeds on filamentous green algae as well as insect larvae. In the aquarium, readily accepts flakes as well as live food. Condition with spirulina flakes and brine shrimp.

Omnivores are either opportunistic feeders or scavengers (Anguillidae), and they can consume whatever they find, from corpses to terrestrial trees' fruits, depending on seasonal availability (Acanthophthalmus kuhli).

Omnivore - Animals who eat both vegetables and meat.
Osmolator - A device used to replace evaporated water and maintain a stable water gravity.
Osmosis - The process of water passing through a membrane to remove impurities.

An omnivore, the Siamese Algae Eater is not a particularly finicky eater, and is the ideal candidate for eating algae off of live plant leaves.

An omnivore, the Flying Fox is not a particularly finicky eater. Ideal foods should consist of a high quality flake food, freeze-dried bloodworms or tubifex, and pelleted foods, as well as vegetable-based foods.

An omnivore in nature, this fish accepts a wide range of foods, including small live foods, such as bloodworms, Tubifex worms, earthworms, glass worms and brine shrimp, as well as flake and freeze-dried foods.

An omnivore, the Black Shark is not a particularly finicky eater. Flake food, freeze-dried bloodworms, and tubifex, as well as vegetable-based foods should be fed.

Being Omnivores these fish will eat just about anything, however insects are preferred. If feeding prepared foods choose one that will sink to the bottom.

Feeding:Omnivore, the fish will take all food including flake food.
Size:Males up to 8 cm, females up to 5.5 cm.

Feeding: Omnivore - but heavy on the meat.
Comments: This is one of the first cichlids I kept in the hobby, and one that I enjoy very much.

They are omnivores. Primary foods are small snails and mollusks. Live and meaty foods are preferred by these fish, however they will eat algae and other vegetation. Constantly growing teeth require that the puffer eat crunchy food to wear them down.

Food: Omnivore, they eat most foods. All cyprinids will accept flake food, and many relish small live foods.
Breeding: Place fish in pairs(or one male with two females)into a breeding tank. After spawning remove parents from tank.

Feeding: Omnivore. A multipurpose scavenger and algae-eater capable of taking any commercially available fish food and live and meaty foods, algae wafers and catfish pellets.

Convicts are true omnivores, eating anything and everything they can fit into their mouths. Their diet in their natural habitat consists of small insects, crustaceans, plant matter and small fish if they can catch them.

Clown loaches are omnivores who will readily accept common aquariums foods such as flakes, algae tablets, frozen foods, live foods, beef heart.
Water Chemistry
The water should be soft and slighly acidic.

Omnivore by nature, will accept most prepared foods such as flake and small pellet; frozen bloodworms and daphnia or live worms as treats.
Size
Less than 2 inches.
Minimum Tank Suggestion
15-20 gallon for a single pair.

They are omnivores, but require LARGE amounts of fibrous vegetable matter in their diets; a piece of driftwood to gnaw on will keep your pleco happy for years.

They are typically omnivores, and often live near the surface, where the oxygen-rich water compensates for environmental disadvantages. Clown Killifish - Epiplathys annulatus (Indonesia code 4186) Average 1.

That is not to say that plant protein is not important to the omnivores or herbivores. But IT IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF PROTEIN and must be supplied in the form of plant protein. There are a number of different plant flake foods that supply this.

Care and feeding: The White Spotted Cichlid is an omnivore. In the wild they feed on algae scraped from the rocks along with microorganisms. In the aquarium they need to be fed a spirulina based flake and pellet.

Fish are usually divided into four eating groups: carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and limnivores.
Carnivores are meat-eating fish which are usually predatory by nature.

The Limia are omnivores according to the books so I included portions of spirulina flake in my feedings.

Dragon Eye Goldfish are omnivores. They should be kept with live plants for food, but may also be fed vegetables like zucchini, peas, spinach and lettuce.

For example, herbivores feed primarily on plants and algae, whereas omnivores enjoy a diverse diet including both animal and vegetable matter.

Labidochromis Caeruleus are Mbuna and Mbuna need vegetables (herbivores) while other Cichlids mainly feed in high protein, frozen and even live foods (omnivores, carnivores or piscivores).

Most dwarf cichlids are omnivores and consume a variety of foods in nature. In the aquarium they will eat many different foods and a diet that provides them a variety of healthful foods is fairly easy to provide.

Like other tangs, these fish are omnivores. They need plenty of algae and other greens in their diet to keep them healthy, but will also eat small bits of meaty foods.

Herbivores and omnivores will love nearly any vegetable you can think of. The harder vegetables should be softened a bit by parboiling them (get some water boiling, take it off the heat and drop the vegetables in).

Because they are omnivores, it is important to include sufficient quantities of plant material in their diets, including algae, spinach, dried algae and frozen and/or flake foods formulated for herbivores.

Identify feeding requirements of species kept (herbivores, omnivores, etc.).
2.

Carnivorous fish mainly require proteins and lipids, while herbivores have a special need for carbohydrates, and omnivores demand a mixture of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids.

Carnivores eat almost exclusively fish, herbivores are specialized for eating plants, and omnivores need some mix of plant matter and meaty foods. The table below lists the feeding preferences of some common freshwater aquarium fish.

Water hardness tolerance: 14 - 20 °dKH
Tank type: freshwater tank
Floor water column: entire water column
Behavior: aggressive toward their own kind
Care level: moderately difficult
Feeding: omnivore - ...
