Description: The Paradise Fish or Paradise Gourami has a stout elongated body and a forked tail fin. This fin becomes quite long on the males, up to an inch or two, extending into serrated filaments.
Paradise gouramis were one of the first ornamental fishes available to western aquarium keepers, having been imported to Europe as early as the 1800s.

Male Paradise Gourami will usually have more color and longer fins. Breeding is difficult, but possible. To trigger breeding the temperature should be raised slightly and the water level should be dropped.
