Pearl cichlids are territorial but generally tolerant of other fishes. Though the can grow up to a foot in length, this is rare and most aquarium raised specimens grow to 10 inches or perhaps even less.
Distribution: The Texas Cichlid was described by Baird and Girard in 1854, and is also known as the Rio Grande Perch or Pearl Cichlid. They are found in the rivers and lakes of Texas and northern Mexico.
