Piscivore - One that eats other fish.
Planted Tank - A freshwater aquarium in which a significant quantity of aquatic plants are growing. Plants may cover from say 30 to virtually 100 percent of the Substrate surface.

Piscivores utilize several, and sometimes odd, feeding behaviors that depends on the prey. This is also based on their size, their environment, and their body structure.

Obligate piscivores. Does not seem to take any food other than live fish, which they snap up with sudden upward lunges.

The lurking piscivores (fish eaters) tend as a group to be a bit more forgiving of conspecifics or even other tankmates, provided they have their own security spot. These are also among the least active of hobby fish.

Grammodes are avid piscivores in nature meaning a large portion of their natural diet is live fish. In the aquarium, tank-raised feeders can be given as a treat preferably no more than once a week.

Care and feeding: The Venustus are omnivorous, but in the wild they habitually feed on fish so can be considered a piscivore. In the aquarium they do best with a high protein diet.

Sometimes, a satisfactory solution is to keep a large piscivore as a pet, which eats your surplus fishes. Dr. Joanne Norton had a Mata Mata turtle for this purpose; other aquarists keep Oscars or other large cichlids.

Piscivores (fish eaters) kept with snack size companions, likewise scale and fin eaters kept with unsuitable tank-mates.
Over competition caused by fish all specialised in a very particular food group.

Labidochromis Caeruleus are Mbuna and Mbuna need vegetables (herbivores) while other Cichlids mainly feed in high protein, frozen and even live foods (omnivores, carnivores or piscivores).

In the wild, these fish are primarily piscivores (fish eaters). In the aquarium, this can be provided for with baitfish such as whitebait, lance fish, silversides etc, and mussel, prawn/shrimp, etc.

Amplexidiscus fenestrafer is a piscivore, and it apparently uses an attracting and intoxicating scent to lure fishes into the folds of its oral disc.

Agressivness: usually fairly docile although they are a piscivore and will eat small fish
