Platys are not a picky fish. Most of their time is spent either breeding or looking for food. They will eat just about anything, but prefer foods such as spinach, zucchini, peas, lettuce, fish, flood worms, glass worms, brine shrimp and tubifex worms.

(35 mm) long red platy juveniles. The only problem I ever had with this species is with the yellow form that I haven't seen in about 15 years. This form had the nastiest males I ever saw.
The first possible winner is a large, beautifully colored Pineapple Platy with no flaws. The second potential winner is a very large Ameca splendens, a truly impressive entry. The third candidate is a rare Veiltail Molly with a long flowing caudal.

Some fish that do much better with added salt would include Goldfish, Koi, African Cichlids, and livebearers. Indeed, the secret to keeping healthy, robust Mollys, Platys, Swordtails, and Guppys is to add salt.
Top-feeders have an upturned, scoop-like mouth for gathering floating food. They like to feed off the surface. These fish include Mollies and Platys.

To date, I have had good results using -Corelia -, -Dunalielia- and - Platymonas- algae. The algae and rotifer cultures are raised separately in two and three liter transparent cola bottles.
