Poecilia wingei, known to aquarists as Endler's guppy or Endler's livebearer is a species of fish in the genus Poecilia, native to the Paria Peninsula, Venezuela. It is a colorful fish, similar to (and closely related to) the guppy.

The colour variety I preferred was the common Poecilia sphenops with a rich, velvety black body that carried a broad bright orange vertical stripe on the edge of the tail. They also frequently carried a bright golden spot in the centre of the eye.

The infamous Guppy, or Poecilia reticulata. Often sold as the beginners fish, it's known for its ability to multiply in number at a rapid rate. Suitable for tanks 37.9 Litres (10 US G.) or more, males usually stay under 5.
Under mosquito control program by a government agency, they foolishly introduced the guppy (Poecilia reticulata) into the area (like the Betta is not enough for that).
Most people who raise feeder fish raise guppies (Poecilia reticulata) or some other livebearer. These are smaller and softer than goldfish and thus more suitable for a wider range of predators.
Are also in sight Herichthys labridens, a lonely (and big) Herichthys steindachneri while among livebearers I have to mention, at least, Poecilia mexicana and Xiphophorus montezumae (showing a remarkable size!).

Like most Poecilia species the males are more highly coloured then the females and about half the full adult size. Males grow to about one inch but are intensely coloured to make them stand out.
Livebearers - Both novice and expert fishkeepers love to take care of livebearers (Cyprinodonts), which include guppies and mollies (genera: Poecilia), and platies and swordtails (genera: Xiphophorus). Let me introduce these hardy breeds to you.
