Pseudodoras niger is what you would call a gentle giant. The body and fins are a uniform black to slate grey, fading to a lighter grey on the belly.
SIZE : The Doradidae Family includes mostly medium to large sized fish, not usually more than 12" (30 cm); although Pseudodoras niger can reach 24" (60 cm) in a large aquarium.
A: The fish of this family usually swim in the lower levels.
Occasionally amongst imports of Pseudodoras niger there are some slightly different specimens which tend to have black coloured fins and a grey coloured body. These so-called contaminants are Pseudodoras holdeni.
