I have 2 Pseudotropheus zebra in an 75 liter tank with 2 Pseudotropheus socolofi. I have no idea if they are male and female or what. They are about 5-7 cm in length, so I guess it's too soon to tell. However they rarely leave each other's side.

6 juvenile Pseudotropheus zebra cobalts (a.k.a. Maylandia Callainos) approx 1 -2 inches in varying sizes - it appears that 2 of them have eggspots.

Pseudotropheus zebra
SYN: Tilapia zebra
PD: The Zebra Cichlid has a "typical" mbuna shape. The coloring depends on the geographical population and mood of the fish.

For a tank of small community fish, White Clouds or Zebra Danios are good cycling fish; Cherry Barbs or Tiger Barbs are good for a slightly more aggressive tank; or Pseudotropheus zebra is a good choice for an African Cichlid tank.

The Red Zebra African Cichlid, Pseudotropheus zebra, is known by a plethora of other names, often based on color. The Red Zebra, although appearing more of a yellow color, is often a brilliant red in the wild.

It is sometimes referred to by the scientific name Pseudotropheus Zebra, but subsequently has transitioned through the name Maylandia to end up being called Metriclima.

I found a local pet shop that would take in the old fish still surviving in the muck, and that same shop donated a whole group of healthy mixed Pseudotropheus zebras at no charge to me.

Since all the fish in the tank will be the same price, there's also no worry that an employee will mistake a $50 Tropheus duboisi for a $3 Pseudotropheus zebra. This technique also works for more community-minded species that have color morphs.
