R/O Water - Water that has been purified through the process of reverse osmosis. Also referred to as RO water.

I rebuilt my 3 ft tank with a UG plate and no uplift tubes, filled it with RO water prepared with Kent R/O Right, and reinstalled my filter - an internal Eheim sponge filter. At startup nitrates were predictably zero and rose gradually.

The container used was a simple plastic box (normally used to keep food in the refrigerator) filled with 60% fresh R/O water and 40% water from their original styrofoam box.

1/21/95 Replaced R/O filter media. Measured coral frags: M. digitata: 6cm x 4 cm; P. cactus 5.8cm x 5.1cm; A. elseyi: 4.6cm x 3.9cm; A. microthalmpta: 8.5cm x 6.3cm. I've been horribly neglecting this tank...

After hatching the fry were rinsed off and placed in a gallon jar of R/O water until free swimming, which was about five days. Very low or no aeration is needed on the fry until they begin eating.

I finally switched to R/O because I had a major hair algae outbreak that almost killed my reef. It got so bad that I did a complete tear-down in September 2006 and was rethinking whether or not to even stay in the hobby.

R/O Right is one product that contains the essential minerals and other elements that your fish need. It should be noted that these are only used for freshwater tanks because saltwater mixes already contain the essential elements you need.

Seem to breed well when doing water changes with R/O water. These shrimp prefer lower water temperatures around a low 21.1°C (70°F) . Temperatures about 24.4°C (76°F) stress them out and they won't breed readily and may even die.
