Red Belly Piranha

Age of Aquariums Freshwater Fish Red Belly Piranha - Pygocentrus nattereri ...

Red belly Piranhas can get frightened easily and appreciate sheltered areas in the aquarium, provided by large plants such as the Amazon Sword, and pieces of bogwood. To see the piranha at its best, allow natural sunlight to fall on the tank.

I have had three Red Belly Piranhas since they were essentially fry (approx. 1" long). They are now just over 6" and highly aggressive. I origionally had them in a 20g tank, then I moved them to a 50g tank and they now reside in a 77g tank.

The Red Piranha, also known as the Red Belly Piranha, is one of the most widely known fish in the world. It is known to be fearsome and aggressive, with razor sharp teeth.

It is so hardy and can be both personality type fish, sometimes semi agressive and many times very peaceful. I have six of them but I just lost 3 of them because my own fault. I mixed them with red belly piranha.
