Red Oscar
The Red Oscar is a color variation of Astronotus ocellatus Oscar. It is also known as the Marble Cichlid or the Velvet Cichlid and is a colorful addition to a large aquarium.

Red Oscars are a hardy fish. They need warm waters, with temperatures ranging from 72 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The pH level of their water should be slightly acidic to alkaline, with a range between 6.5 and 8.

As interactive as they are, it's very important not to leave them lonely. Another Oscar or cichlid who can be housed with an Oscar is ideal. A bored Oscar can often lead to different characteristics as far as his behavior goes.

ocellatus with marbled patches of red pigmentation are sold as red tiger oscars, while those strains with mainly red colouration of the flanks are frequently sold under the trade name of red oscars.

Several varieties of Oscars have been bred over the years including Tiger Oscars, Long-Finned Oscars and Red Oscars. An Albino strain is also available. All varieties require the same care.

For the freshwater aquarium, you can choose from a barb, angel fish, discus, Red Oscar, and a red Platy. You can control the number of fish and bubble action that you want to see. You can also decide if you want to hear waves or bubbles.
