Red Pacus require big aquariums of 90 gallons or more to keep them healthy and they can even out-grow tanks of this size. Provide them with plants and lots of places to hide. Plastic plants are recommended, as they may eat live plants.

The Red Pacu is actually smaller than the Black Pacus. It may fade in color as it ages. Pacus in the wild enjoy eating the fruits that fall off trees in the Amazon.
I have 3 red pacus. I bought them when they were only 2 inches. Within 8 months, they are now about 13 inches. This fish gets awful big. Fishstores should not sell these fish to people without informing the buyer on this fish.
