The rosy barb was one of the first fish to become popular in the hobby. Though this fish fares well at typical aquarium temperatures, it is not a tropical fish.
Rosy Barbs are one of the most popular and readily available fish in the aquarium hobby, for many reasons. They are an active fish with a peaceful temperament, bright color, and adult size of no more than five to six inches in length.

Rosy Barbs - Barbus conchonius - Perhaps the most peaceful of the mid-sized (3"-4") barbs towards unrelated fish. Males become bright red, while females remain olive or gold: both sexes have a prominent black spot near the base of the tail.

PD: The Rosy Barb has no barbels and has slight lateral compression. The back is copper to green-gold.
Rosy Barbs, like other Barbs, are relatively easy to care for. Rosy Barbs should be kept in slightly acid and soft water, with the pH from 6.3 to 7.3, and with a colder temperature from 65 to 74 degrees fahrenheit.
Rosy Barbs have an overall Rose or light red color. The top of the body will usually be green. They are a shiny fish with iridescent sheen. The fins are generally very long and elegant. The head is small.
