The Giant Sailfin Molly is one of the largest species of Mollies. Males will reach 6 inches in length while females will be a bit larger at 7". The body will be white or silver. The scales will be small, yet very pronounced.

There are many species of mollies, including the black molly, sailfin molly, balloon molly and silver molly. Mollies are not freshwater fish, but brackish fish meaning they require a small salt concentration in their habitat.

Comments: The Dalmatian Lyretail Molly is a very attractive hybrid of the Sailfin Molly. Dalmatian lyretails are so named because of their black and white coloring and the resemblance of their long, curved tail to the lyre instrument.

Like all livebearers, molly males are distinguishable by their gonopodium. The male sailfin molly has a well-developed dorsal fin that he uses to catch the attention of the female.
