Sharks
Most sharks available for the home aquarium are found on or around coral reefs, rocky reefs, or lagoons. Vitamin-enriched frozen squid, live ghost shrimp, and other meaty foods should be offered.

Sharks

Many people love the idea of having a mean looking shark in their aquarium. They will often enter a store and see a juvenile shark that doesn’t look too big.

Sharks and Rays are fascinating creatures, and some are available in the aquarium trade. However, most species get very large, too large for all but the largest aquariums.

Bala Shark
Not a shark at all but a Cyprinid (related to the Carp), Bala Sharks - Balantiocheilus melanopterus quickly outgrow most home aquaria. They get to be over one foot long.

Shark Attacks
SHARK !
Nothing strikes greater fear than the thought of being eaten alive by a shark. Sailors of the Old World feared many creatures from the deep blue oceans.

Sharks are also really good fun, a variety of small cat sharks and other bottom feeding /anything âE'they-can-catch sharks are really different from anything you can put in a reef tank.

The shark came right up to the window as you can see - I looked right into its eyes, my fear was evident - and it yawned. I did get a good view of its gnashers, and you can see its razor sharp teeth.

Bala Sharks are actually a Barb, and as such are a schooling fish. Because of this they will do best in groups, and, if possible, the larger the group, the better.

The "shark-fin" is an interesting feature worth discussion. The fish shown at the top of this page is one such individual and can be thought of as the "true" L200.

Bala Shark
Gets big and likes to be in schools making optimal care conditions difficult in the home aquarium.

This "Shark" will be silvery blue with faint horizontal stripes as a juvenile. It will have catfish characteristic whiskers. The stripes will fade with age. It's body will be thin and long, while being thicker towards the belly.

Known as a "shark" because of it way of swimming and its shape, the labeo erythrura is not an ideal community fish.

There are some sharks that should not even be kept by public aquariums. Remoras are hitch-hiker relatives of sharks, that attach to large whales and sharks, getting a free ride, and only detaching to feed on scraps when their "ride" grabs a meal.

Red Tailed Black Shark
The Red Tailed Black Shark is a peaceful schooling fish when young, but beware they grow up to be solitary and highly aggressive towards their own species.

My first choice in filters is, a small submersible power filter, such as the Duetto or Shark for smaller tanks.

Placoid scales are found mainly on sharks, rays and their relatives and are similar in structure to that of teeth. They are rectangular in shape.

Also called the "High-Fin Banded Shark", this fish is found in stores when it is in its attractive and unusual juvenile stage at around 10.2-15.2cm (4-6"). It has a very tall sail-like dorsal fin with black bands and speckling on a white body.

If this were true, I would have my very own great white shark and possibly a small shoal of barracuda swimming around my 37 gallon tank.

One only needs to look in shops or public aquariums to see how many pacu, Red Tailed Catfish, Giant Gouramis, triggerfish, eels, and yes, even sharks have been donated because they have outgrown their original owners' aquaria.

They should not be kept with Triggerfish, Sharks, Rays or Groupers. Angelfish in the same tank may also pose a problem.

Some fish, such as sharks remain with their skeletons made of cartilage, these are termed "cartilaginous". Some parasites (such as Myxosomas cerbralis) can only enter the fish and complete their life cycle, if the skeleton is still cartilaginous.

carnivore - Animals who hunt and eat other animals; meat eater. Sharks are a good example.
carapace - A bony or hard shell that covers part or all of an animal. Turtles, crabs, and boxfish are good examples.

Carnivore: Animals who hunt and eat other animals; meat eater (e.g., sharks).
Carnivorous: Eating animal tissue(the eater is referred to as a carnivore).

The choice of the Roseline Sharks really suits the layout as well, and watching them glide gracefully in and out of the driftwood makes this video simultaneously stunning and relaxing.

Fish such as Discus and Bottom dwellers (Catfish, Loaches, Sharks, Plecostomus) require approximately 5 minutes to properly nourish themselves.

Ruby would probably be a better gauge on freshwater fish temperament than I. I always liked the freshwater sharks; they can get big, but you have a big tank.
Good luck,
Shawn.

SOme peaceful fish would be Algae Eaters, Angelfish, Betas, Catfish, Cories, Danios, Discus', Goldfish, Gouramis, Guppies, Knifes, Loaches, Mollies, Platies, Sharks, Swordtails, and Tetra's. As you can see their are many fish that are peaceful.

From this point, the next link in the chain can be aquatic (dolphin, shark), terrestrial (man), or aerial (bird). When aquatic organisms die, they fall to the bed.

dhonti seems to be a habitual cruiser once comfortable in its aquarium surroundings, reminding one of shark videos. The impression is that this catfish is "friendlier" and more inquisitive than most.
