The skunk loach, skunk botia or Hora's loach, Yasuhikotakia morleti (syn. Botia morleti, Botia horae, Botia modesta), is a freshwater tropical fish found in the Mekong River and various rivers in Thailand.

Aquarium setup: Skunk Botia is best kept in a well planted slightly dimmed aquarium. Plants have to be planted in pots otherwise the botia will dig them up. Use hardy plants.

The skunk botia is a hardy, smaller loach than can be kept with larger, more aggressive fish. In fact, I have kept them with African cichlids and they held their ground quite nicely.

The Skunk Loach is named because of its Skunk-like colors and pattern.
These Loaches generally stay pretty busy and will usually leave other fish alone. They spend a lot of time digging so a soft sandy substrate is needed.

Some "Skunk Botia" (Botia morleti) are injected with dyes and painted to produce purple, red, and blue loaches.
Another botia, Botia lecontei, is also sold as a blue loach or blue botia, and is not dyed - though a painted blue botia is now available.

One of the prettier scavengers is the skunk cleaner shrimp Lysmata grabhami.

Most types of corys are smaller, and grow only to 2-2.5 inches, only a few grow larger, namely the Metae/Bandit cory at 3 inches, the Aeneus and Paleatus at 3-4 inches (the bigger ones seem to be the long fin varieties), ...

Exceptions to this are some smaller, relatively peaceful marine fish such as Percula Clowns, Skunk Clowns (but not most other Clownfish), most Gobies, Blennies, some Damsels, and a few others.

lohachata, Skunk Loaches - B. horae, Blue Loaches - B. modesta, and Striated Loaches - B. striata are all seen in the hobby.

The Clown Loach, Yo-Yo Loach, Dwarf Checkered Loach, Skunk Botia and the Bengal Loach are all Botia that may be found in a community tank and will eat snails.

Some Corys you may encounter are the Bronze Cory - C. aeneus, the Spotted Cory - C. ambiacus, the Leopard Cory - C. julii, the Skunk Cory - C. arcuatus, the Bandit Cory - C. metae, and the Panda Cory - C. panda.

Tankmates included skunk Botia and other Synodontis spp. The fish were fed mainly frozen brine shrimp, bloodworm, and ProGreen (a mixture of green, clams, and shrimp).
