Snakeheads are generally quite aggressive fish and can eat quite big fish, for this reason any tankmates should be at least 2/3 their size.

 


Unfortunately, snakeheads are known for their survival skills. They can breath air, walk short distances on dry land, and survive droughts by burrowing into the mud.

Red Snakeheads are ferocious predators demanding a constant supply of live foods. They will frequently kill more than they can eat and are gluttonous feeders.

Snakeheads (Channa sp.) are very powerful predators that want to be alone, and require a huge tank to attempt to mix with others. They are sometimes blamed for actually breaking the glass of an aquarium.

Snakeheads are known for their aggression, this species puts them all to shame. This fish is just plain nasty and should be kept alone. It will have a broad head with a very large mouth. The body should be torpedo shaped.

Snakeheads are hardy fish and are highly adaptable. Their only weakness in home aquariums is fungus. Somehow they can get get fungus very easily even in water of good conditions.

Don't get snakeheads or channel cats - cute when small, but guaranteeed to outgrow anything you have.

Dino, (my polypterus) gets along quite well with my red lined snakeheads and tiger oscar. unfortunately, he never gets a shot at any feeders I put into the tank, as the snakeheads will eat a dozen or more feeders and the oscar will eat the rest.

the dealer thought of them as nothing more than rubbish fish and fed them to arowanas and his snakehead. I therefore got 10 absolutely free. at 1 inch long they were very endearing and settled down in almost immediately.
