Spotted Headstanders are unique and fascinating fish due to their way of swimming with their head down, drifting around the tank, with occasional bursts of speed. I have sadly not had the best of luck in keeping them.

Spotted Shovelnose catfish are carnivorous and should be fed accordingly. Meety foods such as worms and beef heart are relished. They will sometimes learn to take pelleted or flake food from the surface.

The spotted barb or common barb, Puntius binotatus, is a tropical freshwater fish belonging to the Cyprininae sub-family of the (Cyprinidae) family. It originates in Asia, in Myanmar and the Mekong of Thailand through Indonesia.

The Spotted Rafael Catfish, also known, as the Talking Catfish is an interesting fish. When taken out of water, it will make clicking noises, which is what they are best known for.

agassizi because they are both spotted and occur in some of the same water ways. There are several subtle differences between the two species that can be used to differentiate them, including the more rounded muzzle of the C. agassizii.

In this aquarium I have noticed what was supposed to be female dwarf algae eaters bulging with eggs, but I never spotted any eggs in the tank, nor observed any spawning behaviour.

Pearl and Spotted Arowana are both Australian. They look the same except for the scales and colors.

I have read several comments and some say the spotted ones are the male some say they are the female. Can anyone assist me on this.

The Pictus Cat is part of the antenna catfishes and usually has a pale to gray body with a black spotted pattern. The pectoral fins are serrated, so it is recommended that a glass bowl or cup be used to capture the fish rather than a net.

Included in the Zebrasoma family of fish are, amongst others: Z. flavescens (Yellow Tang), Z. scopas (Brown Sailfin Tang), Z. gemmatum Spotted Sailfin Tang), Z. veliferum (Sailfin Tang), Z. xanthurum (Yellow Tail Sailfin or Purple Tang), and so on.

Common species available are the spotted puffers and figure of eight puffers. Pygmy puffers are also common place now and as a smaller fish of under an inch, they are the best choice if you really want a community puffer.

Some Corys you may encounter are the Bronze Cory - C. aeneus, the Spotted Cory - C. ambiacus, the Leopard Cory - C. julii, the Skunk Cory - C. arcuatus, the Bandit Cory - C. metae, and the Panda Cory - C. panda.

The female has a larger body diameter. Usually the abdomen is colored in white, but in the reproduction period the male has a dark spotted abdomen. These fish start their sexual activity after the age of one year.

For Lake Malawi, you can add species of the Haplochromis genus. These reproduce through mouth brooding, ensuring that the hobbyist can look forward to a fascinating spectacle once he or she has spotted a female with her mouth swollen by eggs.
