Therefor it should not be trusted in aquariums with smaller fish. The Spotted Climbing Perch likes a shady sheltered environment, so put in a well planted, not to brightly lit tank that includes floating plants and rocky hidaways.

The Spotted Climbing Perch is golden in color with dark black spots all over. Its most unique feature is its ability to extend its mouth like a vacuum hose and collect food.

Tankmates should not be too dominating, and should leave the Pseudohemiodon in peace. My group are currently housed with spotted climbing perch (Ctenopoma acutirostre), African red-eye tetras (Arnoldichthys spilopterus), Panaque sp.

This fish goes under several common names in addition to Leopard Ctenopoma, including African Spotted Leaf Fish, Spotted Climbing Perch, Leopard Bushfish and Spotted Ctenopoma.
