Spray bar

Aquarium Spotted Talking CatfishSPS

Spray bar: Many use these - e.g. if you had a very strong powerhead, a spray bar can disperse the flow across the bar.
Substrate: Material used on the aquarium bottom. Examples include gravel, sand, etc.

Spray bar
1 hydrometer
Ro Man (50gal per day) 5 sediment Reverse Osmosis filter & large plastic water butt!! (to store RO water as it is made)
4 x 25kg bags of sea rock
4 bags of coral sand
1 bag of coral gravel (decorative topping) ...

Then I added a spray bar to the outlet to control the direction of flow better. Here it is all put together. I forgot to take a picture of it in the tank working.

Also, while the spray bar design is fantastic and makes the BIO-wheel more reliable, it can become stopped up fairly easily. As I said earlier, I use carbon mesh bags in my filters.

This is from direct comparison, I had two 1060's, but when I added a chiller I replaced one 1060 with a QO, use the 1060 for the chiller, and the QO to run the two spray bars which each had a 1060 before.

The tank specifications were: 30 gallon (120 liter) aquarium (36x12x18 inches, 90x30x45 cm), 20 gallon (80 liter) refugium/sump including 350 g/h return pump with spray bar return line, Berlin Classic skimmer (rated for up to 250 gallons), ...

Filter or pump outlet - spray bar - trickle filter - bio-wheel:
Principle: After the water flows through the filter, it has to return to the tank in one way or another.

In the first, a powerful filter pushes water in a hose along the length of an oblong tank to a spray bar placed on the opposing tank wall. A tall tank is not necessary, the one below is 12" high.

biofiltration, the canister spray-bar return may be aimed vertically downward by simple release below the water surface; similarly mounted below the water surface but aimed diagonally at the opposite face of the tank; by vertically mounted spray bar ...

The water is distributed through the media by means of a spinner or spray bar(similar in function to some lawn sprinklers), or through a distribution plate (a piece of plastic or plexiglass with holes in it to allow the water to drain through).

The principle of operation is as follows: Water is sprayed (by a revolving spray bar) or trickled/dripped (by a plate with lots of holes) over a media that is largely exposed to air (i.e. not immersed in water).

The one at the end farthest from the filter's spray bar grows fast, with thick stems. Its leaves reach all the way to the top and spread widely on the surface. The other plant is in the jets of water from the spray bar and it grows much more slowly.

gallons One Rite-Size "E" Filter; 4 oz. Refillable Media Container Spray Bar Driven BIO-Wheel
400 400 gal./hr. up to 80 U.S. gallons Two Rite-Size "E" Filters; Two 4 oz. Refillable Media Container Spray Bar Driven BIO-Wheel ...

The main pump, a Sequence 4600 SEQ22, returns about 2000 gph through 2 pairs of spray bars along the back of the tank. Each has a vertical pipe directing current left (or right), and a horizontal bar providing surface (or bottom) movement.

Air stones and oxygen. Cray need well oxygenated water, so a spray bar would be a good addition. lots of air features go down well too, Cray tend to like sitting on an air stone, letting the bubbles flow over them.

The best way is via a spray bar because you will get a wide spray pattern with your media constantly being hit in the same area. This will result in fresh oxygenated water feeding your nitrifying bacteria.

The complete units use a u-tube as the water intake and typically a spray bar for the water return. Once the system is installed on the aquarium, a siphon is started allowing the water to flow from the aquarium down to the canister filter.

Lower the water level and then raise it gradually with new water, prefferably using a watering can or spray bar to simulate rain. The male will defend the eggs and the female should be removed within 24 hours.

I might add a spray bar to the output in the future to provide more uniform circulation. Two six-inch airstones are employed at opposite ends of the aquarium and approximately one inch of crushed coral covers the bare tank bottom.

To simulate the rain, use a drip system or spray bar for several hours a day and simulate storms by flashing light in a dark room.

This promotes very efficient nitrification. The water may drip from a spray bar or drip plate. The medium may be small pieces of plastic, DLS, or anything else that will support bacteria and not easily clog.

However, if the Bowfin is kept in normal aquarium temperatures, the oxygen level can become too thin for it to handle, so some sort of extra aeration must be provided from a spray bar, powerhead, or similar device.

The output of the pump goes through a check-valve, then 1" flexible tubing, a 1" PVC ball valve, and through the other hole in the bottom of the tank. Inside the tank this goes into a spray bar across the back bottom of the tank which sprays towards ...

Since then, I often use a couple of drops of H2O2 on my heater and spray bar during water changes to keep them clean but I haven't had any other problems in this tank to have to treat in the same way.
