Habitat: Warm, shallow, fast flowing rivers, which are well planted.

DESCRIPTION: Short body (2 inches), stocky, with a dirty white/sand colored body, and two black stripes: one on the caudal peduncle and dorsal fins.

The subfamily of Serrasalmidae is divided in separate genera: Pygocentrus, Serrasalmus, Pristobrycon, Pygopristis, Catoprion, Metynnis, Colossoma and a few more.

The subfamily Botiinae within the family Cobitidae is uncertain; Nalbant (2002, 2004) and Kottelat (2004) raised the subfamily to family status as Botiidae and divided it into two tribes:
Tribe Leptobotiini - Leptobotia, Parabotia, Sinibotia.

This subfamily includes very many species. Among these species, some are very popular in the aquaristic community.

The members of the subfamily Liopropomini, known commonly as reef basslets, are highly desirable serranids that are well-suited to the smaller reef aquarium.

The family Alestiidae was a subfamily of the Characidae until they were given family status in 1998. This family includes all of the African tetras. Like the Characins, Alestiids range in size from 1.5cm (less than 1 inch) to 150cm (5 feet).

Clownfish, or anemonefish, are of the subfamily Amphiprioninae of the family Pomacentridae. They average 3 inches in length. Most are brightly colored orange fish with white stripes on the head or side of the body.

They are within the Anthiinae subfamily along with many species of Anthias. However, the Highfin Perchlets within the genus Plectranthias resemble hawkfishes more than Anthias.
