Description: Not the most beautiful of fishes, the body of the Chinese Algae Eater, Indian Algae Eater, or Sucking Loach is plain with a notable black stripe from the tip of its "nose" to its tail.

Care and feeding: Generally the Chinese Algae Eater, Indian Algae Eater, or Sucking Loach prefers an herbivorous diet of algae and vegetable matter, but they will eat live and flake foods also.

I keep my one with 5 goldfish, two young sucking loaches,a leopard danio and a white cloud. I feed it goldfish flakes, peas and tubiflex worms.

As a central feature, a waterfall runs down into a mountain pool that is home to axolotls, sucking loaches and a huge shoal of rainbow danios. This pool is packed with healthy looking Elodea and spider plants.

Best known examples are the sucking loach or Chinese algae, eater-gyrinocheilus aymonieri and the plecostomus and hypostomus. But unfortunately they are rare to come by in pet shops in the country.

My sucking loaches easily controlled the little that grew. Even though I didn't add any fertiliser my plants still grew lush green.
